CRSU was earlier known as KUPGRC, Jind, until 2012, when the university started offering several other programs other than management and IT. The university was established under Ordinance No.6 vide Haryana Government Gazette. CRSU secured the recognition of UGC- the higher educational regulatory body of India- for grants from the central government.

Currently, 26 streams are conducted at the university campus (17 regular and 9 under SFS). There have been many achievements to credit, like International Research Workshops, State-level Cross Country with 15000 runners for the mission. At the university campus, professional training is always a priority, like recent training camps organized for NET and SSB.
